The Government is proposing petrol price difference by car size, this sounds ridiculous.

Whats in their mind man! Imposing petrol price by car size?

At first, I was thinking hard what is the objective that the government want to achieve by implementing this rule?
Reducing big cars or reducing the fuel consumption? Or is this another way for the government to make additional profit (they call it subsidy reduction whatever it is).

This rule will give a deeper slash to the Rakyat regardless they're rich or poor. When you talk about big car, it simply doesn't mean only the rich drive a big car. The rich will drive a brand new big car while the lower income group drive a rather old but still a big car. It isn't uncommon to see people who earn about RM2000 a month drive a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry or even a Merc or Beemer with engine capacity above 2000cc, just that they're used vehicle from older model and they're affordable. So, does that mean they deserve to be penalise with higher petrol price simply because they choose to drive a cheap old car?

And you know what, they already pay a hefty price on the road tax. Road tax for a typical car above 2500cc cost more then 10 times than a car with half the capacity. That is already a one tight slap to the owner and now, another slap with the fuel price. That certainly going to hurt.

Lets look at our premium paid for petrol car road tax
1000cc = RM20
1300 = RM70
1600 = RM90
2000 = RM380
2500 = RM880
3000 = RM2130
3500 = RM4380

The Loopholes

Just look at the 20 liter fuel limitation for foreign vehicle implemented recently. Just how can you ensure the foreign vehicle really only fill 20 litre of fuel before leaving the country. It is barely possible to control that. They can simply jump around from one station to another station pumping 20 litre each and fill up the tank to max before leaving. And then they have this credit card payment which they can't get control of. So, what is the effectiveness that come in place at the end. None.

It just going to be the same if the government impose higher price to big car. One can simply get a smaller car and fill it up with cheaper fuel and then transfer the fuel to their larger vehicle. Now, that doesn't mean you got to buy a small car, just go borrow it from someone.

On top of that, it also open another illegal business channel to the society. Runner could buy cheap petrol with small vehicle and the sell it to the big car owner with some fees. It sure going to be a lucrative business since big cars are everywhere now. I doubt the government could get control over these sort of activities.

Environment concern

People around the world is talking about global warming and cutting down carbon emission nowadays. While having this implementation may not seems to help much in reducing carbon emission, the government must play a strong role in conserving the environment. Just look at our capital city KL, you barely see a clear blue sky on most of the day along the year. The air are always filled with smoke. Although our country has not reach among the world's top country of carbon emission, we shouldn't be waiting until the day arrive and then only start implementing all sort of things in a hurry, that will be too late.

China is among the top carbon emitter, I been there before and witnessed how bad the environment could be when you have so much pollution going on.
The whole day looks like as it was evening when the sun is about to set.

One of the prevention measure taken by China was the implementation of electric bike to replace the gasoline engine bike. With hundreds of millions of petrol bike already on the road, it is a steep implementation that doesn't comes easy at first but today, you will see most of the bike in China run on electric motor. By eliminating most of the petrol bike on the road, it sure slash down a significant amount of carbon emission to the environment.

I strongly believe Malaysia should also follow the footstep implementing the electric bike here. It is environmentally clean and safer. I remember we have tried to bring in the electric bike in the recent year. Its the same type of electric bike I saw in China but then, it cost nearly 3 times of what found in China.

Thats ridiculous! The bike cost about the same price than the petrol based bike, just who do you think wanted to buy it?
I think they must have imposing 200% import tax on those bikes.

Other than environment friendly, the electric bike are also safer than its petrol sibling. You wont see people riding an electric bike in highway at 200km/h or doing the Superman or whatever-man stunts or in the city which make our infamous Mat Rempit so popular in this region. We have seen more and more powerful small bikes introduced into the market over the recent years and so as the crime which related to these bikes.

The government should be more serious and do better in conserving the environment but this double standard fuel price system certainly not helping.

Before I knew it, the government announced that we got to use our Mykad at the petrol station to buy petrol. I think this is to curb the fuel smuggling activities at the border state so I hope this will only be implemented at the border state area. I just can't imagine that we come to a stage where "No Mykad, No Petrol". WTF!

There are all kind of phobia in this world and each of us has phobia of some kind.

Everybody has phobia against something. Some afraid of crawling insects, some afraid of height, some afraid of blood and some even afraid of photos. Its hard to explain why a person has phobia. Just recently, while I was reading newspaper with my colleagues in the reading room, we stumble upon a news about a 5 meters length python captured. It also has a photo of the snakes with a bunch of peoples holding it up. Somehow, I notice that one of my colleague standing stood near the door some 10 feet away.

"C'mmon, you got to look at this news. A big snake got captured and it has the photo of it here," one of my friend tell.

Looking rather freak up, that colleague of mine shake her head signaling us that she dare not to see the snake in the photo. For many of us, looking at photos of animal is nothing to be afraid of. Its just a photo and there ain't any hard that the photo would do to you right. But well, this colleague of mine has a serious phobia against reptiles and she is not even dare to look at in even in a newspaper photo. Some would consider this silly but it is true.

Then I have another colleague during my time in my past company. He's a married guy with several kids, very nice person and would talk to anyone t any time. One day, while few of us getting together chatting, one of my assistant took out a needle.

"Look what I found on my chair justnow, someone left this needle on my chair and almost poke on my butts!".

All in a sudden, that colleague of mine stood up and ran some 10 feet away from the group. Seeing something amiss, I ask him whats going on?

"Emm.. I afraid of needle, would you mind keep that needle away," he said.

"Man, you afraid of that tiny little needle? You're a man and already a father and you tell me you afraid of this little needle? Good try but I'm not amused," I said to him.

My assistant then chase him around the department holding the needle and that fella is running like there is no tomorrow. Somehow, I finally realise that he has phobia on needle. It really makes me wonder how a big man could be afraid of a tiny little needle?

As for myself, I think I do has phobia too. I was afraid of leech and those squirming little slug. Don't know why but I felt they're disgusting and I always tend to run away if I sees them. But my phobia was't really so serious. During my secondary school period, I like to go fishing and it isn't something odd to find leeches and occasionally would have a few of them stick on our feet sucking our blood. I was quite freak up at first but eventually got used to it. But now, if it get to stumble upon a leech, I think I will choose to run!

Try out this unique home made noodle fried in various style and taste.

The name Pan Mee is not something unfamiliar to many of us. You could find stall selling this self made noodle at most eating places across the country. It is served in a very simple way where the noodle is simmered in boil water and then serves either with soup or soy sauce.

This time, I was honored to try out this home made noodle prepared in fried instead.
Heading to the Ding Hoo Food Court at Tasek Square not far away from the Tasek T junction, it was easy enough to locate the place since there was a bright sighboard at the IGB traffic light.

ding hoo food court tasek square

The food court has been in operating for quite some times already and was just recently switched owner and changed its name to Ding Hoo. The food court is very neat and clean and there is also free WiFi available for you to get online as long as you want there.

The fried Pan Mee stall located at stall number 36 and you could choose from a variety of serving written on their menu. Hokkien fried, Sam Si, Black Pepper and minced chicken meat just to name a few of them.

hokkien fried home made noodle

This Hokkien Fried Pan Mee resembles the fried large noodle a.k.a. Tai Lok Mee which available elsewhere. Unlike the usual mass produced noodle which is rather soft, this home made noodle were more tender and crunchy.

sam si fried home made noodle

This is the Sam Si Fried Pan Mee. You have the noodle fried with some shredded mushroom, vegetables and chicken meat. Simply delicious.

Well, if they have the sambal belacan cilli sauce instead of the curry oil paste, that would be perfect. Though, the fried noodle itself tastes rather good too.

minced chicken meat fried pan mee

Fried Pan Mee with minced chicken meat. This one is fried with some curry paste to add some spicy taste to the noodle. Well, most of us does like spicy stuff here and this is just what I’m looking for. All those colorful toppings comprise of minced chicken meat, chilli etc.

Overall, I find the noodle served at this stall really delicious and its not that you could find the same stuff like this just anywhere else. So, if you are craving for some nice fried noodle, just head to the Tasek Square and look for stall number 36.

It’s the final day of our Korea Shanghai trip. The traffic condition in Shanghai is really chaotic as it is going through a major facelift for the upcoming EXPO 2010 next year.

shanghai leisure hotel

Time just goes by so fast that our trip comes to the final day. Our flight back home is scheduled at 9.00pm so we still have a day exploring this metropolis.

river at shanghai urban place

Shanghai development is way faster than any part of the world. New skyscraper were build on just any piece of land they could acquired and the urban area just keep on expanding. But even so, their river was way cleaner than our river in the urban area back home. I guess China government was really serious on tackling pollution problem but even so, the social civic awareness plays a great role in maintaining pollution and environment cleanliness.

The itinerary for the final day is seemingly simple but time after time we got stuck into massive traffic problem in the heart of Shanghai. EXPO 2010 is a grand event coming up next year which is held in Shanghai and the city is currently renovating itself into a brand new metropolitan for the sake of the event. All major roads and highways in the city were dug and re-tarmac and many more infrastructures were repaired and constructed.

shanghai traffic congestion

The entire Shanghai is in chaos now and I see we were here at the wrong time. Moving one point to another point within Shanghai takes hours to reach and we have several places to visit today. Most of our time was wasted into the traffic problem rather than visiting places.

We took a walk at the People’s Square in the heart of Shanghai city before heading to the Museum for a visit.

One place that we always get to visit on any China trip is the Chinese medicine shop a.k.a Pau Shu Tang or Tong Ren Tang. I’ve been to China trice and have repeated this routine every time there.

soak foot

Firstly you will get treated with a free session of reflexology. Yes, it is FREE. They will give you a pail of this freaking hot murky colored water to soak you blardy foot before they give you some reflexology massage. Along the process, they will have these doctors looking fella explaining about their medicine products. They would also check your pulse and give you some advice regarding you health being and of course suggesting some medicine to you.

In the past, there is also a live demonstration where a man a.k.a stunt man touches his hand onto a red hot burning steel chain. He will then show you his first degree burn palm with a damn hurt facial expression and finally comes the savior of the day. The ultimate Chinese medicine cream called Pau Shu Ling. Just apply some of the cream onto the burnt palm and the burn will eventually heal. And the fella will smile to you again like he will live happily ever after.

They still promoting this same ole magic cream to the tourist but then, the stunt demonstration are no longer available. Probably they couldn’t hire anymore hand for them to burn anymore lol.

Well, I did actually bought one of those magic cream several years ago and until today, I didn’t remember if I ever did open the container. While it was shocking to see the stuntman burn his hand, I actually get a burn on my money instead.

shanghai chen huang miao

Just before we head to the airport, we took a short visit to the Chen Huang Miao temple commercial center. Due to the massive traffic problem in the city, we were left with a little time to goes around the place.

shanghai chen huang miao at night

These ain’t not Chinese temple or a holy shrine. It is all commercial buildings with shops and restaurants all over the place. It lit up into a very beautiful shopping district at night.

shanghai chen huang miao at night

There is a famous Xiao Long Pao a.k.a Little Dragon Bun restaurant in this area and usually there will be a long queue at the take away counter. I did try the bun last time and it was somewhat delicious. This time, guess I don’t have the time privilege to queue up on the lane anymore. There are many restaurants in the area selling various cuisines and snacks. It’s a food haven.

That’s it. My eight day trip to Korea and Shanghai has finally comes to the end. Got up to the coach for the last time in Shanghai heading towards Pudong International Airport and along the way, looking at the beautiful night scenery of the busy city and of course, stuck in traffic jam.
