Kedah Darul Aman is located at north of peninsular Malaysia. There is much to say about this Rice-Bowl-of-Malaysia.
Well, my wife is a Kedahan so it is quite often that I go back to this paddy field state. The capital city of Kedah is Alor Star (used to be Alor Setar). It is not a very big city with approximately 400,000 population majority Malays.

Alor Star (Telekom)Tower is the landmark of the capital city of Kedah. Its the second largest telekom tower after the KL Tower. It is 165.5 meter in height and you could go up to the observatory deck at 88 meter height. You could see the whole Alor Star city as well as Langkawi and Thailand from the observatory deck.
There are 2 external elevator on this tower. You could enjoy the scenery while lifting up to the observatory deck. The elevator will not be operating under windy condition. Hmm, the elevator for the second largest telekom tower of the country is afraid of wind !

The distance between Ipoh and Alor Star is approximately 250km through North South Expressway. As you enter the Kedah district through the highway, you could see long stretched of paddy field. If you come at the right time, you would see the huge green field along the road or golden brownish color field when the paddy is about to be harvested, it is so nice I'telya. However, if the harvest season just finished, all you could see is just burning flames everywhere and smokes are here and there, it and may even block your sight while driving. It is like hell I telya.

Most of the land in Kedah is consist of paddy field, though there are also rubber and oil palm estate. Kedah produce one third of the country's rice consumption.

It may takes hours and hours of walk to get from one end of the paddy field to the other end.

Paddy is turning yellowish in color. This would mean that the harvesting season is near.

I was at Alor Star few days back to attend a wedding. It happen to be the wedding of my wife's-aunt's-daughter (gosh. how do you call that?)
The wedding dinner for the bride's family was held on Sunday evening and the wedding ceremony is on the next morning followed by the dinner for bridegroom's family on that evening.

As I entered Alor Star, I stumbled across this driver who keep pressing on the brake for no reason. There ain't any car in front of him le... wtf. curse him with flat tyres on all his wheels #@*%$%
