There are a lot of nice food at Alor Star. The chinese population here is mainly Teochew and Hokkien, so basically some the food here is similar to those in Penang. The hawker food here are so delicious and inexpensive too. If you have a chance to visit Alor Star, you really got to eat cukup-cukup here.

Asam Laksa is everybody's favourite. For only RM1.60, this yummylicious plate of asam laksa is yours. So deadly cheap !

Lemak Laksa. This one is my favourite. It is similar to the Asam Laksa but with coconut milk. You should really try this one.
Most Laksa stall here are open for business on the afternoon 1.00pm onwards unlike Ipoh where you could have Asam Laksa for breakfast.

Yummy Char Koay Teow !
Koay Teow fried with prawns, cockles, egg, beansprout, kuchai... woah so many ingredients. Only RM2.00 per plate !

Curry Mee. It has egg, chicken, cockles, fried beancurd(tau pok)

Among the famous curry mee in Alor Star is found here. Kedai Kopi Lai Huat. It is located nearby the roundabout at Jalan Telok Wanjah.

Koay Teow Th'ng(soup) with pork, vegetables and some pig's spareparts (internal organs)

This is the Riverside Food Court locally know as Hai Tao Kee. Located near the Central Market at Lebuhraya Sultan Abdul Halim(before the bridge). There are plenty of delicious hawker food available here.

My favourite Yin Yong is this one here.

Yin Yong, fried Bee Hoon and Koay Teow with porks and vegetables. It is sort of like the Wat Tan Hor

Fried Oyster or Or Chien in Hokkien. The oyster is fried with egg and some tapioca starch and vege.

Lor Bak is an all time favourite snack. There are meat roll, sausage, tofu and many other varieties available at the stall. Just pick your favourites one and they fry it and serve it to you.

Lor Mee. I haven't come across any nice Lor Mee like this one in Ipoh.

There are also this famous rojak which is located at the roadside of Jalan Telok Wanjah. You will find crowd of people at the stall and within a couple of hours, most of the fruits is already wipe out !

I was there around 2.00pm and some of the fruit has already sold out !

The rojak here consist of a mixture of a few types of paste. I'm not entirely sure what secret recipe it was but this rojak is sort of dry as the paste used is very thick. Unlike the rojak in Ipoh which use shrimp paste, this one taste excellent !

You see, even the guy standing behind the uncle become so excited awaiting for his rojak ! Saliva dripping liao !

This Mee Abu located just around the rojak stall. It is very famous for its Indian Fried Mee. Taste very nice I'telyu.

This Sin Yuan Restaurant located near the Pizza Hut traffic light of Jalan Putra. It serve mix rice for lunch and it is famous for its fish head curry.

Huge variety of cuisine can be choose here. Whether you want it to served into one plat of mixed rice or into separate dishes, its all your call.

We ordered a baby squid curry, sweet sour fish fillet, fried egg with bitter gourd and a vege for 3 person meal, it cost about RM 15.00 including cold sky juice. Worthwhile and reasonable.

Well, there are many others great yummylicious food here from Alor Star such as Hokkien (prawn) Mee, Kon Lo Mee, Kai Si Mee etc etc. Just too many that I could mention here now. Hopefully on my next visit, I could jot down more about the great O food from Alor Star again
