Do you do files backup for your computer?
Unless you are a tech savvy or understand the precious value of document and stuff in your computer, most people simply don't backup their documents in their computer.
For some of the important files which I have, I always make sure I will have a few copies of it being kept. I will keep it at my office, my laptop, pen drive and even in the internet. I have some project files which I have work for several months or years and I can't afford to lose them.
My sister just learn a lesson about how important of backing up documents in the computer... the hard way.
She bought a laptop about a year ago and the laptop is mainly used to keep business related documents such as customer's information and sales thingy.
The laptop broke down recently, though I'm not sure what exactly went wrong. She said the laptop might have infected with virus. Hmm.. I thought only if the laptop is used frequently to surf net then only it would get infected with virus???
But whatever reason it was, she sent the laptop to the famous 'S' computer shop in Greentown where it was bought initially.
The repair job is including of backing up the files in the 'My Documents' folder and then get the laptop format again.
Somehow, the stupid technician there just simply format the entire system without backing up the files! I don't know if he/she could not read or understand what written on the repairing slip or the only thing they know how to do is to format everything.
So, there goes all the precious data kept in the hard drive. WTF! My sister who only realize the problem after she bring the laptop back to home asked me to send the laptop back to the shop again. Well, I doubt the so un-intelligent technician there could do anything about the laptop now since everything has been erased.
Ya know, I hate to go to this computer shop. Last year I was here to collect the same laptop (newly bought then) and the first time I went to collect it, they said the laptop haven't finish install program. Damn it, I have already been told to collect it on that time and that day but I ain't getting nothing. I was asked to come back in 2 hours time instead. Yeah, I like have nothing else to do heh.
After 3 hours, I called them up again and they said the laptop is STILL NOT READY! I don't know WTF they're doing but they sure sucks in doing their job.
I end up going to the shop again on the next day afternoon to collect it.
'There is some problem in installing the program with your laptop but our technician is attending it now, could you come back in 2 hours?'
Yeah, the very same line again. Only god know how piss off I was then. It was like their daily routine geetings to tell their customer the very same ole shit everyday.
I don't want to elaborate more of the conversation on that afternoon and I finally get to collect the laptop later on that afternoon.
There is a Chinese saying; 'Guo hoi sui jau hai san sin' which mean once you paid the money, they're the god.
Yeah, they give you all the sweet promise when you want to buy something from them and they really makes you feel like heaven but once you paid up, they will stay at heaven, and you are going to hell!
Yeah, their office is like hell. As I enter their office this afternoon, there is already a female customer who are so pissed off and raising up her voice to the customer service girl there. From the conversation I heard, it was just exactly the problem I face the year before. Paid up but not receiving goods.. after several visits to their office.
I was there this afternoon to get an explanation about the problem they made to the laptop, they destroy all the files inside it!
After waiting for like 10 freaking minutes, comes a technician.
'The technician who format your laptop has already resigned, I believe he did not backup your files', he said.
They must have technician resign everyday I tell ya, for every angry customer who enter their office, some just-already-resigned technician, manager, salesman, director, grave digger, dog cats cockroaches would be held responsible... good way to get off the hook? Nay!
Why, they think all the customer have no brain ar?! Customer only wants a solution, not to know who's the black goat is.
So, I was sitting there releasing my 'tension' against the technician for several minutes. The 2 customer service girl who is sitting at the counter in front of me just kept quiet looking on their LCD, playing a game of some sort. The technician were silence. Then I just grab my stuff and leave the office.
As I was walking towards my car, I was thinking, 'Why am I so angry? I was only the delivery man.' :)
But then, it is their stupid mistakes that had caused so much trouble to my sister. So, I advise my sister to do files backup herself probably like once in a few days or week. It is very easy to do and such incident would never happen again. Even if her laptop got stolen, she would still be able to have some files kept rather than nothing at all.
If I have to buy any computer from this 'S' computer shop in Greentown, it would be over my dead body!
