Chinese New Year Celebration 2007 in Ipoh

I arrived to the scene at 8:30pm and it was already so crowded. I had miss some of the events such as the longest dragon in the world performing as well as the lion dance.
Psst, the main reason I came to this event this time was to take some nice shot on fireworks with my S3IS.
Fireworks are hard to come by ya know.

There was the stage for the VVIP. The majesty Sultan of Perak is there to enjoy the evening too.

Choy San dou ! The God of Prosperity is stopped by the media for some photo before going around the field giving out Mandarin Orange to the public.

After 9pm, the first wave of fireworks is unleashed.

I set my camera to Auto mode to snap these fireworks. Although I know it may not give the best result but then I just couldn't get a steady shot on the fireworks with the SCN Fireworks setting. I wish I had a tripod.

The first wave of pyrotechnic display is closed with this parachute like fireworks. Those little parachute was just so cute.

As the fireworks finished, more activity start on the field.


Lion dance always pull my attention. I love to see the lion dancers performing those legit movement and stunts. Sometimes, it is really dangerous and accident does happens. I really admire their skill and effort to perform in such way.

It was about 10:30pm and I took a walk from the crowd in the field and take a short break. There are food stall along the side of Padang Ipoh and lots of people too.

My dad like to buy this steamed peanut eversince I was a kid. Until now, he is still treating me this steamed peanut.

Ah, the Lok-Lok stall seems pack with peoples.

Activity switched to the stage where cultural dance and artist erformance took place.

Anybody know who is this artist? Well, she does looks wink wink but I ain't know who she is.

I know this is John from the Superstar contest.

Special Guest Star ! Well, anyone recognize who is this fella from HK? I saw hiw film ever since I was a small kid.

As the time approached midnight, the celebration is closed with another fireworks display.

This time, I switched my camera to SCN mode with Fireworks snap mode. This mode will have 2 seconds in shutter speed and would require a very steady shot onto the object.
I don't have a tripod so I hold my camera to a lamp post to get a steady shot on the fireworks.
The result is awesome.

As the event comes to the end, everybody is leaving and what left behind is all the good 'ole souveniers from the citizen on Ipoh, everywhere.

It was already midnight and everybody is leaving the scene. Traffic is jam to maximum.
