Foh San Dim Sum

A well known place in ipoh for its delicious dim sum. It was so pack during the weekend.

foh san dim sum restaurant ipoh
I was here last Sunday. The famous Foh San Dim Sum Restaurant. The place was so pack, it was even hard to get a place to seat not to mention to get some nice food to eat. Our leng lui's who pushes dim sum trolleys are no where to be seen.

I see there are quite a numbers of tourist flooding the place. Now Foh San is really that famous now?

dim sum
The Dim Sum here is certainly nice la.

After eating a lot of flesh, it would be a good idea to have a nice sweet vegetables.

wu kok

It is interesting for people to review and discuss food in Ipoh. Ipoh food is still one of the best but somehow, the price has escalated a lot. The traders blame it on prices of items used. A month before Chinese New Year, prices will increase and they stay put after that. Look at the money you pay when you eat at Foo San. Incredible. Try the Dim Sum at other places ie the restaurant at Jalan Leong Sin Nam or Bercham, behind the Bercham Chinese Primary School. The service is good, food tasty and service is prompt. Alternatively, try the food in Tanjung Tualang, Pusing and Kampar. Venture out and you will enjoy both - the trip and the food.

i love tim sum. but we don't have it here in kelantan except renaisance hotel which is halal.. no pork.
#9 ipohchai (2007-10-08)
I must admit that Foh San dim sum isn't really that good anymore. Not sure if their quality drop or simply there are others which is better.
Ming Kok, Yook Fook Mun and some others dim sum place are getting better popularity nowdays.

Peter Khiew: Yes, Ipoh food price has been going up and up and skyrocketing and many have been venture the the outskirts for some better food with better price of course.
Places like Lawan Kuda, Kampar, Chemor, Sitiawan and many others are common place where people going.
sri kebakat: So, whats the good food available there at kelantan. I been there a few times but never had a taste of the true Kelantan cuisines

many ppl claimed ming court, yook fook moon, kao lee nicer, but in the end, i think Foh San is still the best ...
Ming court portion is slightly small, yook fook moon was ok only, and kao lee is expensive and taste normal
Foh San has LOTS more varieties, coming up Mini 'Fatt Putt' (hehe) Yam Platter?, and their brinjal yongtaufoo is GREAT! imagine yongtaufoo at a dimsum restaurant...funny rite?

I still like Foh San dim sum rather than Ming Kok. Which i feel Foh San dim sum is more fresh and nice... By the way, Ipoh dim sum is not much variety than KL dim sum... Please have a visit to my blog oso

I think people have over rated Foh San dim sum. It isn't tasty at all. The environment is lousy, especially for those who truly wants to enjoy dim sum & chinese tea.

Either the locals do not have "taste" for good dim sum, or they have not tasted really good ones. I for that matter will not go back to Foh San, although last Sunday was my very first trip!! KL dim sum is far greater in taste and ambience in Foh San.

I think it got praised so much because there aren't other dim sum place back then. but now, there are many other dim sum restaurant which offer great dim sum.
#16 Pork Bun (2009-07-10)
ur comments make me drool. I cant wait to go Foh San tomorrow. best in town.
#17 Hock (2009-07-15)
I also rate Foh San the best in town. Just been there yesterday. Will go again. Try the "Sang Yuk" Pau , "Lam Yue" Pau and "Prawn Dumpling". Very worth the money because each dumpling has 3 big prawns in it. WOW!

I heard the Foh San Restaurant had move. Do anyone know where is the new location?
#19 Danny (2010-05-11)
The service is terrible and the quality of dim sum has dropped.. nothing to shout about...
#20 Kim (2010-08-13) (2010-08-13)
Ya, agree with Danny.
Today we eat the "Lotus with egg yolk Pao" ... the skin texture taste like frozen food ... not nice.
#21 enqvist (2011-05-16)
the new shop is alot more better now.
#22 catherine boon (2011-06-02)
