Hokkien Mee and Char Koay Teow

Ipoh may not be famous of the Hokkien Mee and Char Koay Teow, but then it does offer a good taste of these famous hawker food from Penang

When talk about Hokkien Mee a.k.a Prawn Mee and Char Koay Teow, its none other than talking about Penang's famous hawker food. Yep, this is what most people seek for when going to Penang.
Well, atleast that is what I'm looking for everytime I went to Penang. I just couldn't find any Hokkien Mee or Char Koay Teow that taste anything close to them at Ipoh.

If you were to ask me where in Ipoh has a tasty Hokkien Mee and Char Koay Teow, well I would point you to Restoran Impressive.

restoran impressive or little genting
Restoran Impressive is located at Jalan Ali Pitchay (The AmBank junction of Jalan Yang Kalsom). There are varieties of hawker food here such as Bak Kut Teh, Western Food, Chee Cheong Fun, Won Ton Mee etc etc. So, its a place for everyone to have their breakfast.

This Hokkien Mee is just too tempting. It's fried freshwater prawn is indeed tasty and you could ask the taukeh to remove the shell before serve if you are too lazy to peel them yourself.

Well, the only downfall about this Hokkien Mee is that there is no Chiok a.k.a pork. Yeah, no pork!
For RM4.00 each, I would say its worth the money but then, I still want Chiok on it!

char koay teow
Char Koay Teow! Doesn't this one looks exactly then same like what you had in Penang? The taste does comes really close to it though.

Like most fried mee stall in Ipoh, it doesn't fried with chilli. Somehow, you need to request the taukeh to fry it with more chilli, yes ask for more. Unless you really cannot take the hot spicy taste.
