I was there to witness the history of the Ipoh Flower Market project brought up by the city council. It has been a good idea to take up an effort to create another attraction in the city. But then, the effort proves insufficient. The participations is deemed pathetic.

When I visit the Flower market which is held at Padang Ipoh twice a month, the trader stalls could be count by fingers! The city council took the effort to set up tents and even a PA system and thats all I could see.

It doesn't took long at all before the project become history and most people don't even realize that it even exists.

Now, the city council is back again with the same idea, to revive the long dead flower market into the city. Well, I don't know if it will just turn up as another chapter in the history of Ipoh Flower Market story but the start up seems convincing.

Ipoh Flower market schedule

This year, the flower market will be open on the last weekend (Friday, Saturday and Synday) every month. The location, Taman Bougainvillea which is located in between Syuen Hotel and the City Council building (DBI) in greenhill, Ipoh. Instead of that, there will be 4 grand events each year which would be held on the Chinese New Year, City Day, Merdeka and the December holidays.

Ipoh Orchid Show 2008

I went to the Ipoh Orchid Show which is held in front of the Ipoh City Council building in greenhill yesterday. There are hundreds if not thousands types of orchid to see over there.

I just get to know about it in afternoon and straight to the events with my compact camera and here is some photo from the scene.

There are really whole lots of orchids shown there and you could also buy a few back home too. Orchid are easy to take care of and it's flower are simply beautiful.
The Ipoh Orchid show will end on the 2nd of June 2008, so do take this opportunity to have a look at those colorful nice orchids at the Ipoh City Council.
