Asam Laksa is my all time favourites. I started enjoying laksa when I was a small kid. I remember there is once during my childhood when I was staying with my aunt, she was asking me what I would like to have for my breakfast?
"I want Laksa!" I said.
"Laksa is very spicy one la, little kids cannot tahan one!" She replied.
Somehow I insisted that I wanted to eat Laksa and my aunt bought it for me. She was amazed that I actually consumed the whole bowl of laksa leaving nothing behind.
"Wah! You so terrible la, so spicy also you can finish it ar!" She said.
Well, that was many many years ago. Like most Malaysian, I like spicy food so much. Like what people say,
"One day didn't chilli would die!"
Guess my mother inherite that property to me, she likes chilli too until she got a Warning Letter from the doctor that she need to control eating chilli due to health problem.
OKlah, lets not talk about History anymore la, I know its kinda boring. Lets talk about this infamous Kee Poh Laksa which is located at Gunung Rapat. It is one of my favourite laksa.

This little coffee shop is located right opposite of the Gunung Rapat wet market. Its easy to locate though.

There, the Taukeh-Soh on grey shirt which is busy preparing noodle for customers. The Ahmoi is for your eyes only. I have been standing there several minutes just to wait for her to posing there ya know.

There is also a varieties of assorted fish cakes a.k.a Yong Tau Fu.

Mmmm... this delicious Asam Laksa is just too tempting. It isn't very spicy and it's sour is set just nice. Gosh, I'm really drooling as I trying to imagine back the time I'm having it.
Allright, if you insist wanted to see a map to this place, here is it. First of all you need to come to this Jalan Gopeng (Now known as Jalan Dr Raja Nazrin Shah.. something like dat) and heading towards Sam Poh Tong. As you passby the 24hours McDonald, turn left on the traffic light. Soon you will find the wet market on your left and this Kee Poh Laksa will be on your right.

Now, lets talk about the best Laksa!
For me, I had the best Asam Laksa when I was staying at Kuan Woh Yuen (ya know where izit?) many years ago.
It was an aunty selling noodle at her home at Taman Moonlight. Too bad that she only been operating her business for a few month and worst, her laksa is only available on Saturday. Yup, only once a week.
I really never had enough of her Laksa la...
So, where is the best Asam Laksa you ever had?

That Kee Poh isn't mean Ipoh. It was a name which is translated would mean 'aunty Kee'

During the 1980s, I used to patronize a laksa stall in Gunung Rapat town. It was not asam laksa though. IIRC, it was santan laksa, or siam laksa. I tell you, the laksa was so very tasty and spicy. I'm still missing it. Some years later, I came back looking for it, but it wasn't there anymore. I hope someone would tell if they're still in business.
hmm, I agree that the best laksa in Ipoh is at Gunung Rapat, but I have to say, Penang's better. Lol.
At any rate, yeah, I love eating the laksa at this Gunung Rapat stall since I'm a big fan of the fried fishcakes.
I'm a big fan of KEE Poh Laksa.. everytime when i go back to ipoh ..without misss i;ll have her laksa with lots of onions and mints.. delicious

I don't like this Laksa. I think the one in Falim is better. It only open once a week on Sunday lunch time. Can sell over 500+ bowls...
oh yes, i agree, the laksa at Falim was one of the best I've tasted compared to even the ones found in Penang, like their fried beancurd skins...
