My Brother In Laws Nursery Revisited

It has been 3 month since the last visit to my brother in law's nursery. He just started to plant the Chrysanthemum Flowers back then. Now, most of the plants has already fully grown and will be blooming its flowers for the Chinese New Year festive season very soon.

Early in the morning at my brother in law's home in Lembah Bertam, Cameron Highlands. It was cloudy all over the mountains surrounding the area and it was so beautiful.

After we have our breakfast, we are going into the farms and nursery located deep inside the mountains. I was standing behind the Toyota Hilux with my brothers and niece. It was kinda fun and felt so adventurous able to climb up to the back of the Hilux and drive aling the hill side with exhilarating scenery.
The road was kinda bumpy from time to time and my brother in law was driving fast along the road, it feels even more thrilling than riding on a roller coaster.

This is the town Lembah Bertam. It was a small town and most of the people living here are involve with agriculture such as farming and nursery.

Land Rover jeep is a common vehicle here. Most farmers will have one or a couple unit of them. Its the best vehicle to climb the hill and crawl the off road condition in the area.

The cold breezing wind is blowing onto my face as we drove into the farming area. It will takes about 15 minutes drive from Lembah Bertam's town to reach my brother in law's nursery.

It was so beautiful along the way.

I could see farmers working on in their farms planting vegetables and flowers.

It is almost to the dead end of the road and this is where the nursery is located.

Did you see him, thats my younger brother shooting his camera on us. He rarely have the time to join us to Cameron Highlands, so busy working. Well I'm glad he could join us this time.

Check this out. Lime tree for the Chinese New Year. It has a prosperous meaning for Chinese so it was one of the hot selling plants during the season.

Look at all these Chrysanthemum parked at the entrance of the farm. There are much more inside the farm. These flowers is about to bloom soon and will be ship out to customers very soon.

See this ! All of it was Chrysanthemum. My previous visit to this farms was on October 2006 when they just started to plant these plants and now it is all grown up ready for shipment soon. All the Chrysanthemum pots has been fully reserved by customers as far as Singapore within a month when the Chrysanthemum plant season starts at October.

Just a few more days to go and the shipment will start gradually and during the last few days prior to Chinese New Year, people will be working around the clock loading plants onto trucks for shipment. There are always shortage of transportation to ship out the flowers from Cameron Highlands during this peak period.

There are several types of pots and Chrysanthemum plants here. Some of it is not available for the local market.

The Chrysanthemum flowers will start to bloom in another week time or so. Chinese New Year is just 3 weeks away.

Before the flower buds grow larger, most of it need to be remove away. Usually it will only leave the largest flower buds in the middle and all the smaller buds surrounding it will be cut away. This is to ensure that the flower would not grow too congested and the flower would bloom bigger as it takes up all the nutrients.

This is a dressed Chrysanthemum plants. Only the largest flower buds left for each branch.

This is the Royal Chrysanthemum buds. Royal Chrysanthemum is common and usually can be seen in market.

This is a smaller type of Chrysanthemum flower and it started to bloom already.

Other than flowers, Chilli plant was also a hot selling plants of the season. I saw this unique purple color Cili Padi amongst the chilli plants.

There are many types of Chrysanthemum Flowers in the nursery. It comes in different sizes and colors. Look at all these Chrysanthemum on display. Yeah, they're all from the Chrysanthemum family.

The nursery itself was so colorful and full of flowers and plants. After a few more weeks, most of the plants will be shipped out leaving all empty spaces.

Its already afternoon and its time to head back to my home for lunch before we head back to Ipoh.

I saw this houses which is built for the Orang Asli. They used to live deep inside the jungle around the mountains. Now, some of them started to move out near to the town and get their children educated.
Pssst... they even have Astro installed here, so don't ever think Orang Asli is outdated now.
