Nasi Ganja - Addictive as Marijuana

Wonggey Wonggey ! Yeah, that is how they used to howl right in front of their restaurant. It simply means 'Come On, Come On', inviting guest to try out their infamous curry dishes.

Located at Jalan Yang Kalsom, near to the new town's Police Station traffic light, this old looking coffee shop has been selling nasi kandar for decades. Back to the time when the Tanjung Rambutan bus station was operating, the business here was at its peak. Now, the bus station was no more there, yet the business of this little restaurant was nonetheless swarming.

Kedai Kopi Yong Suan, a chinese named coffee shop. Who say you won't find Indian food at a chinese restaurant, indeed this is where the famous Nasi Kandar of Ipoh was located. Some would call it Nasi Ganja or Marijuana Rice!

In malaysia, Marijuana is illegal, but not Nasi Ganja! Well, its not that they really have marijuana in the rice okay, it was just named as marijuana rice by the locals simply because it is addicting! Yeah, addicting! you heard that just right. People are coming back for more of this addicting curry!

I was there couple of days ago to cure my addiction against this delicious curry. It was 1pm at the afternoon and it was packed with people already. There were queues of people awaiting for their turn to pick their favourites dishes and the dozen of tables was already fully seated.

The environment here may not be very pleasant for some people, yeah I did heard peoples complaining about its cleanliness here but it has been that way eversince the Wonggey Wonggey time decades ago.

Since it was that packed at the time, I just tapau a pack of my favourite Nasi Ganja and head to home where I could enjoy my own privacy and the best cleanliness place I wanted to be.

As I was driving myself back to home, my car air-cond gave up! It was 30 over degrees C outside and I was caught in a car without air-cond. If that is not bad enough, I was caught in a traffic jam near a school area. Damn, it was after school time and all the busses and parents parked their vehicles outside the school awaiting for their children. I was sweating like I have just installed a shower inside my car. So, there I was, stuck in the middle of jam for 15 minutes before I could continue back to home.

It was so hot outside and its getting hotter inside here as I was having my Nasi Ganja. Look at the dry curry chicken drumstick I had. It was a must-eat dish and that is what makes me going back for more time after time.

What else is better than a cold chilled Caffeine drink after getting myself burn up by the hot weather and the hot addicting curry meal. It was like heaven I'telya.
