I paid a visit to a friend of my wife at the little town of Sungkai, about an hour drive from Ipoh. Sungkai is famous for its Sungai Klah Hot Spring Park. Its a very nice place to relax up surrounded with nature.
The heart of Sungkai's town. The main road stretches about two hundred yards with rows of of shops along it. No fancy stuff here but you could find most of the stuff you needed here though. Life in a small town is just simple, you just need to buy what necessary and the rest of it well, what do you think?
In the hunt for delicious food, this little does keep a hidden treasure beneath. You could easily locate this Kedai Makan Choy Kee at the main road of the town. It's a very famous restaurant and patrons who travel along the North South expressway would pull over to have a taste for its famous Pork Knuckle here.
Well, here it is. The infamous Braised Pork Knuckle. It is a must have signature dish at this restaurant. The meat inside were so tender that it tends to melt inside your mouth. The pork skin were not too soft though and it is kind of bit chewy unlike others braised pork knuckle elsewhere.
Then come this Steamed Kampung Chicken in Chinese Herbs. The Kampung Chicken is steamed with some chinese herbs. It is simple and healthy.
This is Fried Squid in Salted Egg Yolk. So fragrant and it taste simply delicious.
A simply cooked vegetable. Not just one of a kind so nothing much to comment about lol.

Things are getting more and more expensive. Even the small town bussinessman knows how to raised the price of the food. Any way thanks for the post, if i am there and cannot find any other food, might pop in and try.

DO NOT EAT in this restaurant(Kedai Makan Choy Kee at Sungkai)! The food tasted so so only, but they charged the tourist extremely expensive. I ordered only four dishes , but the bill added up to RM80++! The small pork knuckle costs RM34. Half chicken costs RM18! If possible, try to avoid this place! Drive up straight to Ipoh for a better food.
