The recently open fine dining restaurant, The Limestone at the Regalodge Hotel has held a press conference and I was honored to witness this unique fine dining restaurant in the heart of Ipoh. The Limestone serves authentic European cuisines including French, Italian, Portuguese as well as Spanish in their menu. All the dishes are prepared using fresh ingredients with some are imported from other country to gives you the authentic taste. From tomato sauce to ice cream, everything is made from scratch here.
The cozy contemporary ambiance at the Limestone gives a relaxing feel to every patrons who come to this restaurant. It is not a large restaurant with dozens of tables but this little space prove to make me feel really comfortable to enjoy a dinner.
The man behind the scene is culinary master, Chef Erwin Vande Vegte from Europe. With more than 2 decades of culinary experience under his belt chef Erwin has been working in several country including Switzerland, Germany, UK among others. His culinary art is shined at a Two Michelin Star Restaurant in Europe. Chef Erwin is specialized in the South French Cuisine and is now in the mission to introduce his culinary art in Ipoh.
Long story short, let move on to the point of the restaurant, the finely made culinary art by a Master Chef.
On the cold dishes corner serves some mouth watering fresh salad, salmon, prawn, mussel, and lobster and so on. It was just so appetizing that one would have his jaw drop down looking at all this delicious food. Though, these special platter is specially made upon request so lets get on to their menu dishes instead.
Grilled Lobster With Wild Rice.
Now this is really wild having a plate of rice with that grilled wild lobster flew all the way from Canada. You could have either the whole lobster or just half of it. The lobster is grilled to perfection top with some smooth cheesy gravy, it's simply irresistible.

This is also known as the Spanish Seafood Rice is a well known Spanish signature cuisine. It has prawn, squid and mussel cooked with rice. Saffron is added into the rice which makes it taste remarkable.
Apart of those European cuisines, they also serve specially made cakes including Moccacino, Strawberry Cheese, Orange Bavarois, Black Forest and Vanilla Chocolate Tiramisu.
The Strawberry Cheese cake is somewhat special. The cake and cheese cream is layered covered with some smooth and sweet cream. The top is covered with strawberry and syrup. Somehow the sweetness is a bit excessive for a health conscious person.
Overall the dining experience at the Limestone is an eye opener for me to experience fine European cuisines. The environment is cool and the food was great.
